Ceremonies

Rites that open the heart

Ceremonies are rites practised in many cultures around the world. At Magma they bring together ritual, song, dance and breath, for deeper contact with yourself, with a higher consciousness, or for healing. Some are shared, some individual, held by the river or in the main tent.

Cacao ceremony altar with candle and singing bowl

Ceremony

Cacao

An ancient rite from Central and South America, practised today all over the world. Cacao is taken as a medicine for body, mind and spirit, a way to meet your own inner wisdom.

It invites you to slow down, breathe deeply and surrender to the rhythm of the ceremony. Held by the ceremony leader and the circle, cacao becomes an experience of togetherness.

Guests waiting in line to enter the temazcal

Ceremony

Temazcal

A traditional sweat lodge from Mexico and Central America: a small dome built from natural materials, with stones heated in the fire and doused with water to make steam.

You sit close to the earth while the ceremony leader sings and prays. Temazcal cleanses body and spirit and is often joined with other rites.

Women's circle in the tent

Ceremony

Women's circle

A place of support, awareness and letting go. Through spontaneous movement, self-massage and old practices, women reconnect with the strength of their cyclical nature.

After the circle the women join the men from their own circle, and together they dance and celebrate life.

Men's circle on the grass

Ceremony

Men's circle

An ancient way for men to gather: companionship, honest conversation and shared experience in a safe and confidential space.

In our circle we use exercises and dances from the Māori tradition, including the haka, as an expression of strength and unity.

Rapé ceremony in the tent

Ceremony

Rapé

A ceremony with deep roots among the indigenous peoples of South America, used to cleanse body and spirit and to connect with nature and the ancestors.

It is always led by experienced practitioners who carry the tradition with respect.

Sound journey with gongs and singing bowls

Ceremony

Sound journey

Gongs, singing bowls and voice. You lie down, close your eyes and let the sound move through the body.

A deep rest for the nervous system, and often the quietest hour of the day.

The fire figure burning at night

Ceremony

Fire night

On the last night a great figure woven from straw and branches is set alight. Drums, dance and song around the flames, the whole tribe together.

A night to let go of what you no longer need and to celebrate what has begun.

Workshops & lectures

Learn from those who live it

Every day: a shared morning program, three workshops after brunch, three before dinner, and a shared evening with the artists. In Croatian and English.

A musician with a guitar on the main stage

Concerts

A journey through ethno and organic sound

A festival that crosses the borders of genres and blends the sound of many cultures.

Pulsing Balkan rhythms, ecstatic DJ sets, gentle icaros, shamanic drums, transcendental kirtans and solo virtuosos, every evening until the quiet hour.
